Une année sans lumière, c’est une vidéo pour marquer des anniversaires. Mon anniversaire, vu que je l’ai filmé le jour de mes 28 ans. L’anniversaire des 3 ans de ma pratique de drag artiste. L’anniversaire de ma première performance drag, que j’ai faite en robe de mariée ensanglantée sur Wuthering Heights. Et puis, hélas, l’anniversaire du covid.
Une année sans lumière.
Une année sans culture, sans essence, terriblement dure.
Un anniversaire qu’on ne voudrait pas fêter, une année sans diamant.
Kate Bush a créé la chorégraphie de Wuthering Heights pour incarner un fantôme. Moi aussi je suis un fantôme, le fantôme de nos soirées, le fantôme de mon drag, qui continue à vivre sous une forme édulcorée.
Je porte le sang de cette année sans art, j’en crie le désespoir, j’appelle à une trêve et au retour de la lumière.

Une année sans lumière is a video to mark birthdays. My birthday, since I filmed it on my 28th birthday. The 3-year anniversary of my practice as a drag artist. The anniversary of my first drag performance, which I did in a bloody wedding dress on Wuthering Heights. And then, alas, the anniversary of the covid.
A year without light.
A year without culture, without essence, terribly hard.
A birthday we wouldn’t want to celebrate, a year without diamonds.
Kate Bush choreographed Wuthering Heights to embody a ghost. I too am a ghost, the ghost of our parties, the ghost of my drag, which lives on in a watered-down form.
I carry the blood of this artless year, I cry out its despair, I call for a truce and the return of light.
